Testing and Maintainence For peace of mind and for compliance with New Zealand code requirements Argus Fire protection offers routine testing and maintenance service to ensure both that the systems will operate correctly when needed and comply with the relevant codes and standards. Service is offered for the following systems types:

To assist you with this, our Fire System technicians are on call every minute of every day, to attend to urgent repairs, system isolations or any other need that can’t wait until normal business hours. Simply dial 0800 4 ARGUS (0800 4 27487) any time. Building Warrant of Fitness This is very similar for buildings. Each building has certain features (specified systems) that need to be inspected and tested regularly by an independent qualified person (IQP). Once these features pass the inspections and tests, the IQP will issue a Building Warrant of Fitness. A copy is sent to the local Council (Territorial Authority), and a copy is also sent to the building to be put on display (similar to the warrant of fitness displayed on the windscreen of our motor vehicle). This process is then repeated annually to ensure the building is kept safe.
A Building Warrant of Fitness (BWOF) is the document that is issued to the local Council (Territorial Authority) and also displayed on site as a declaration by the building owner or building owners agent stating that the specified systems in the building have been maintained in accordance with the Compliance Schedule for a period of 12 months prior to the issue date.
The role of an Independent Qualified Person (I.Q.P) is to inspect report and maintain the Specified Systems as detailed on the Compliance Schedule.
1 Automatic systems for fire suppression (eg, sprinkler systems). 2 Automatic or manual emergency warning systems for fire or other dangers. 3 Electromagnetic or automatic doors or windows (eg, ones that close on fire alarm activation). 4 Emergency lighting systems. 5 Escape route pressurisation systems. 6 Riser mains for use by fire services. 7 Automatic backflow preventers connected to a potable water supply. 8 Lifts, escalators, travelators, or other systems for moving people or goods within buildings. 9 Mechanical ventilation or air-conditioning systems. 10 Building maintenance units providing access to exterior and interior walls of buildings. 11 Laboratory fume cupboards. 12 Audio loops or other assistive listening systems. 13 Smoke control systems. 14 Emergency power systems for, or signs relating to, a system or feature specified for any of the above systems or features. 15 Means of Escape from Fire. 16 Cable Cars. Local government structure, either a city council or district council (including the four unitary authorities). There are 74 territorial authorities in New Zealand (15 city and 59 district councils), responsible for the provision of local services and land use planning. IQP Services
Form 12A is a form issued by an IQP to verify that the inspection, maintenance and reporting procedures on a compliance schedule for a specified system have been carried out during the previous 12 months.
Compliance Management We do this by managing the whole compliance aspect of the building for the owner, which ensures that the client can actually focus on running a successful business and not have to worry about compliance issues, ringing council or chasing documentation from contractors etc. This is unnecessary stress and time consuming, which distracts the client from running their business. Argus handles and organises all compliance procedures and works with the building owner to ensure compliance is maintained at all times.
